Part two of our tour through the Tiffin manufacturing plant takes us through the assembly of the chassis. To state the obvious, these are tires waiting to be attached to the chassis.
Tiffin uses Freightliner chassis on Phaetons and builds their own Powerglide chassis for the Allegro Bus. This is the assembly line for the Powerglide chassis.
The tag axle being installed on the Powerglide chassis.
Airbag and independent front suspension installed on the Powerglide chassis.
Putting the differential in the Powerglide chassis. The chassis will be off the lift and set on it’s tires after this step.
Engines, transmissions and supporting equipment being installed.
Finishing touches on the engine install. New engine and transmission is ready to be installed on the next chassis.
