Healing Hounds™
Training Intensive Program
Are you ready for you AND your dog to transform?
The holistic, owner-centric dog training program designed to create a balanced dog and a confident owner. Healing Hounds™ offers functional training to support your dog AND you!
The root cause of most dog behavioral issues is dysregulation of the nervous system. The first step in this program is to heal your dog's nervous system and help your dog live a calmer, confident, more easeful life.
The second step is transferring to YOU the human how to integrate training in a way that is supportive to you, your family, and your overall lifestyle. Many dog training programs fail because they don’t offer owner support. Healing Hounds™ prioritizes owner-centric dog training.
Each program begins with a 14-day training intensive, where your dog stays and trains with 20+ years experienced dog trainer, Sam Ewashko, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. From there, your dog returns home and you work intensively with Sam to integrate the training into your lifestyle.

How does this differ from other training programs?Other trainers focus on the "right way" of training your dog. I train based on the goals that you have for you and your dog. I use a balance of rewards and corrections, rewarding engagement and relationship-based techniques. My dog training style is holistic and owner-supportive. I want to make your life easier, and I want to make your dog happier and more confident. Those are my main goals. Lifestyle dog training is FUNCTIONAL, not fancy.
-
What else makes this Training Intensive unique?Your dog becomes a part of my family (not in a facility). Full transparency: daily videos of your dogs in training + techniques. This is a training program unlike any other dog trainer. I pull from a variety of methodologies as well as my 20+ years of experience in the veterinary, rescue, dog sledding, shelter, kennel and dog show fields.
-
When is your next availability?August 15-29, 2024 is my next available space. Because I focus on QUALITY over QUANTITY, I only take on 1-2 dogs in-person at a time. This means I am focused entirely on your dog and their training! What this also means is that I tend to book out several months in advance. Reserve your spot sooner than later to ensure you get in!
-
What is the owner's role?I will help you integrate your life with your dogs in a more sustainable way that is supportive to your dogs needs. Training is a lifestyle change, and I will be there with you every step of the way. Owners are expected to be committed, open to feedback, and willing to make changes to support their dog's needs.
-
Will this fix or cure my dog's behaviors? There is no magic fix or magic cure for dog behavior, and anyone who tells you there is, is lying :) This program jumpstarts your dog's life by offering them and you tangible, functional skills. You are then required to maintain the training when the dog comes home.
-

When used mindfully, they are wonderful tools that truly help a variety of owners and their dogs live calmer, happier, safer lives. I wrote an article talking a bit more about e-collars.
