Luiza completed the Spring 2025 Mentorship & Shadow program, and I am truly so excited to introduce her. Below you can read more about her professional work, however, I'd like to introduce her the way I have gotten to know her, as both a trainer and human.

Getting to know Luiza was such a joy and honor, and I was so inspired by her and Kayte's story of starting True North K9. Luiza is SO dedicated to giving dogs the best life ever, and she is in such a beautiful space of learning and soaking in as much knowledge as she can as she continues to build her business. Her dedication to dog's and their owners is evident as soon as you meet her! Getting dogs into nature is absolutely her passion, and she has such an authentic way of engaging with each and every dog that she meets. Her continual curiosity of each dog is such an asset in the dog training community, for she's truly there and present to each and every dog. I am so grateful to know her and excited to see how she continues to grow as a trainer and business owner!

Now, hear from Luiza herself a little more about her journey!
What do you love about dog training?
"I love seeing a dog’s world expand because of the training they’re receiving. Off leash freedom is my favorite goal and I LOVE when owners come to me for that. As someone who started out with pack hikes nothing makes me happier than seeing a dog, who is properly trained, off leash. Also just the fact that people can go out and do things with their dogs is so special to me."
Tell us about your journey with your own dogs!
"Koda was a whirlwind as a puppy and I struggled with him a lot. I didn’t know anything about dogs and he was your classic labradoodle puppy (aka a mess). There was such a disconnect between he and I all the way up until he started his training. It completely changed the game for us and I was hooked once I realized that he still got his little spunk but in a contained manner. Sage’s puppyhood is a complete 180 of Koda’s. For starters she is well bred and a lab so that makes a HUGE difference. But I still had a moment of struggle where for 2 weeks she was lunging and barking at people and dogs and I thought that I had for sure messed her up somehow. But we worked through it and built our connection and now we’re at the best stage of puppyhood!"
What is your favorite kind of dog to work with?
"I loveeeeee a Vizsla. A velcro dog is truly my favorite to work with. I am also obsessed with labs (thus why I have one) everything about them!'
Since the Mentorship program has ended 4months ago, what are the biggest changes you have seen in your business?
"I feel at ease when I go into my consultations / lessons! And, my confidence as a trainer has gone up tremendously! I am so so thankful to have met Sam for so many reasons but this program completely changed who I am as a trainer and I couldn’t think of a better person to learn from."
One thing you wish you could say to every single dog owner:
"Your dog’s world can be a lot bigger than what you think."
One thing you wish you could say to every single dog trainer:
"Do what is best for each individual dog, there is no one size fits all and some dogs may not take to your approach. It is okay for your business to be fluid and go through changes, I have to remind myself these things all the time."
